Kashmir has much to offer to fashion technologists with modern technique of patterning, grading, sizing, etc. for domestic markets, Embroided Sarees, Suits, women’s hare coats, phyrons, jackets, ponchoos, etc. being the popular items. Different kinds of embroidery work is done on the fabrics, one is Zari work on Kurtas, Phyrons, etc. and other is Tapestry (Petit Point) work. It is generally done in coloured woolen yarn in simple cross stitches.

Then there is Crewel work, which is done on hand woven Dasooti (Double Twist) cloth by the pointed hook that is akin to the crochet.
